HI there Blog followers....as you can see, not much has been posted as of late on this blog and that is because we have had a better response from our Facebook page. So please follow us on Facebook...we have lots in the works!
The MAP team
So the time has finally come! We would like to reveal the winning submission for the new mural project. It is........going to be on display at our Second Saturday party! I know, that's mean. We would like to invite everyone to join us on December 12th at Studio 24.
We realized that all the submissions and proposals were worthy of being displayed as art themselves, so we will be displaying them gallery style for all to see and will announce the winning proposal. It's been a tough decision to make and when you see what we had to choose from you'll know why. They are all so interesting!
Join us at Studio 24 2220 K St Btwn 22nd and 23rd. 6-9pm
We are very close to the deadline for submissions for MAP 2! This sunday, November 15th. We'll start reviewing all the proposals next week and get the ball rolling. We have recieved some very interesting concepts so far! It will be hard to choose. Again, if anyone has any questions about the submission process or about the project in general, drop us a comment or an e-mail ( email@example.com).
We have officially started the next star on the MAP! After some resurfacing of the building and painting the base coat we are ready to get this mural on the wall!
The "canvas" in question should be very familiar to those who have worked on and supported our first endeavor. The building, next to MAP 1, is the back of Studio 24 @ 2220 K St. The two story wall is very smooth. The theme for this mural is "IThe EntertainmentIndustry/ Hollywood / FamousFaces". For those of you who are not aware, Studio 24 is an acting/photography studio.
The dimensions of the wall are 40' wide by 25' high. There are also several architectural elements that would need to be incorporated into the design--backstairs, all doors and utility service points. This is a very large area and we are suggesting this could be a group effort among several artists. We as the board may select a group of you based upon the concepts submitted and come together to create a cohesive piece of artwork. However, if one artist comes up with the best concept and is able to complete it in it's entirety, we will consider that as well.
Here is the breakdown of expenses:
Wall Resurfacing $3,000.00 Complete*
Paint Doors & Pipes $200.00 Complete*
Scaffolding $1,400.00 ($600 for one month 400 each additional month)
Total Budget $8,000.00
Sponsors will need to be acknowledged in the final design by clearly stating "MuralSponsors include...." so please account for this in your proposal.
To submit your idea for consideration, please snail mail a 8.5 x 11 color rendering of your concept as well as a simple cover letter that includes the title of your mural, a brief description and the name of artist/s participating. Be sure to include how the stairs and doors will be included in your overall design.
Please submit your concept byNovember 15th 2009

So, we've been on Facebook for what, TWO DAYS and we've already hit 100 FANS?!?! Wow. I'm amazed at the momentum and I'm really getting excited. So here are some other pics of our new baby after the "makeover" Turned out really well and isn't it just BEGGING for a fabulous mural? hmm?
Hey there! It appears there is a MAP Media Blitz goin' on! Fox 40 News came out and did a great story on the project. I think that our message is getting out! Isn't it amazing that a project we all toiled over, promoted, protected, and bragged proudly about over this past YEAR is still moving with such force? It's exciting and every time I look at it (which is often) I still can't believe I am part of it. So that was kinda sappy, right? I DON'T CARE!!! Check out the link and feel the love.....
