The Fight Against Urban Blight - Paul Watts

Paul Watts, founder and owner of GRS (Graffiti Removal Service) applied a protective coating to our mural. The product (top secret stuff) not only protects the mural from graffiti it also provides some UV protection, keeping the color true for a longer period of time. The top coat really adds a finishing element.

Paul works long hours tackling the graffiti problem in Sacramento and surrounding area but he does it all wearing that winning smile and sporting a wicked sense of humor!  

Should we start a Paul Watts fan club….hummmmm I say YES!

Featured Artist: Judith Monroe

 

Judith Monroe brought something fresh and different to her space on the wall. A fine artist and a photographer, Judith combined both mediums to create a special landscape with actual photos incorporated into the painting. You would really have to get right up to her work to realize that the highlighted areas are photos. Featured Artist: Micah Young

 Micah Young is a good sport. You know why? Not only did he agree to join our project towards the end but he also agreed to paint in what is probably the most AWKWARD space we had. So he rocks. And I think his devilish, hellish (in a good way) skeleton character is both hilarious and perfectly complimentary to Keith's Torch Club....

Featured Artist: GayLynn Ribeira

 

First of all, my picture does not give this amazing piece the justice it is due. Please visit the wall  to witness this striking portrait for yourself. GayLynn' Ribeira's image of this expressive little girl was cause for much conversation when she was working on this piece. Many people wanted to know all about this girl..her name, where she was from, etc. but according to Gaylynn she is an anonymous muse and we are only left to speculate. An accomplished portraiture artist, GayLynn can be reached through her website www.gaylynnart.com . I was fortunate enough to view some of her work in person when she set up shop at the wall for our second saturday event. Check out her portfolio on her site and prepare to be amazed. "Katia" is a personal favorite of mine.

Featured Artist: Keith Hopkins

 Bright as a beacon on our wall is a much known and loved icon of Sacramento, The Torch Club. Keith Hopkins, who we first heard about from the Sacramento Art Complex, works primarily in watercolors but has expertly translated his vision of this landmark in acrylics.
